Greenwich Winter Night Shelter (GWNS) 2019

One Shelter | Seven Venues

Supporting the homeless, challenging homelessness

Every winter, thousands of people in the UK end up with no home.

It’s a national problem and sometimes it feels like there is nothing we can do. But there is.

The Greenwich Winter Night Shelter (GWNS) is a Christian charity in the Royal Borough of Greenwich which provides dinner, safe overnight accommodation and breakfast to homeless people over the winter months from mid-November to end March.  GWNS started in 2015 and is staffed entirely by volunteers apart from our project manager and case manager. It has established itself as a reliable and trusted service to both referral agencies and guests.

For homeless people, a winter night shelter can be as little as a safe place to sleep out of the rain or as much as a step forward to self-sufficiency.
